What if your iPhone touch won't charge ?
If your battery won't charge or charges slowly, or if an alert message appears, learn what to do.
Plug into power
To charge your device, follow these steps:
- Connect your device to the USB cable that comes with it.
- Plug into one of these three power sources:
Wall power outlet
Plug your USB charging cable into a USB power adapter, then plug the adapter into the wall.
Computer
Plug your charging cable into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on a computer that's on and not in sleep mode. Don’t use the USB ports on your keyboard.
If you're trying to charge wirelessly with an iPhone 8 or later, first make sure that you can charge with the USB cable that came with your device. If that works, then get help with wireless charging.
When your device charges, a lightning bolt appears inside the battery icon in the status bar , or a large battery icon on your Lock Screen .
If your device charges slowly or won’t charge
Follow these steps and try again after each:
- Check your charging cable and USB adapter for signs of damage, like breakage or bent prongs. Don't use damaged accessories.
- Use a wall power outlet and check for firm connections between your charging cable, USB wall adapter, and wall outlet or AC power cable, or try a different outlet.
- Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device, then firmly plug your charging cable into your device. If the charging port is damaged, contact controlZ support.
- Let your device charge for a half hour.
- If your device is still unresponsive, force restart your device:
- Let your device charge for another half hour.
If your device stopped charging at 80 percent
Your iPhone might get slightly warmer while it charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent. Your iPhone will charge again when the temperature drops. Try moving your iPhone and charger to a cooler location.
iOS 13 and later use Optimized Battery Charging to slow the rate of battery aging by reducing the time that your iPhone spends fully charged. Your iPhone uses on-device machine learning to understand your daily charging routine so that it can wait until you need to use your iPhone to finish charging past 80 percent.* Optimized Battery Charging is active only when your iPhone predicts that it will be connected to a charger for a long period of time.
* Information regarding your charging routine is stored only on your iPhone. The information isn't included in backups and isn't shared with Apple.
If an alert says that your accessory isn't supported or certified
These alerts can appear for a few reasons:
- Your iOS device might have a dirty or damaged charging port
- Your charging accessory is defective, damaged, or isn't Apple-certified
- Your USB charger isn't designed to charge devices
Follow these steps:
- Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device.
- Restart your iPhone.
- Try a different USB cable or charger.
- Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.
- Contact controlZ support
What if your iPhone is running slow ?
Check your network conditions
Many apps require an internet connection for their content and other functionality. If the network that you're connected to is congested — for example, at an event with many people using the same network — apps might take a while to open or display their content. Your device can also seem slow as it repeatedly reconnects to new cell towers when you're in a moving vehicle.
Even if your device indicates a strong signal, you might need to wait, try again in a different location, or use available Wi-Fi. If you continue to experience issues with cellular data speed, availability, or performance in multiple locations, contact your carrier.

Close an app that's not responding
If an app stops responding or freezes, you might need to force it to close and then open it again.*
- From the Home Screen of iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps.
- Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
- Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.
* Under normal conditions, forcing an app to close is not necessary and does not make your device run faster. In fact, an app takes longer to open after a force close because it has to reload all of its data.

Make sure you have enough storage
If your device is low on storage, iOS automatically frees up space while installing an app, updating iOS , downloading music, recording videos, and more. iOS only removes items that can be downloaded again or that aren't needed anymore.
You can check your device's storage in Settings > General > [Device] Storage. For best performance, try to maintain at least 1GB of free space. If your available storage is consistently less than 1GB, your device might slow down as iOS repeatedly makes room for more content.
If you need to free up some space, follow these steps to turn on the storage-saving recommendations built in to iOS :
- Go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage and read the recommendations that iOS might provide.
- Tap Enable to turn on a recommendation, or tap a recommendation title to review the content that you can delete.
If you don't see any recommendations — or if you need to free up even more space — you can review the apps on your device. They're listed on the same [Device] Storage screen along with the amount of space that they use.
Tap an app, then choose from the options:
- Offload the app, which frees up storage used by the app, but keeps its documents and data.
- Delete the app, which removes the app and its related data.
- Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of its documents and data.

Turn off Low Power Mode
Low Power Mode is an iPhone and iPad feature that extends battery life by reducing the amount of power that your device uses. In Low Power Mode, some features are turned off and some tasks might take longer to complete. If your battery icon is yellow, Low Power Mode is on.
Consider leaving Low Power Mode off if you need your iPhone or iPad to function without low-power restrictions. You can turn Low Power Mode on or off in Settings > Battery.
Get more information about Low Power Mode >
Keep your device from getting too hot or cold
iOS or iPadOS adjusts your device's performance if it's become too warm due to external conditions, like being left in a hot car or used for an extended time in direct sunlight. Move your device to a cooler location and let its temperature adjust.
Very cold temperatures can also slow your device. If your device runs slowly after being exposed to cold, move it to a warmer location.
Learn more about acceptable operating temperatures >
Look at your battery health
All rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective as they chemically age. Over time, the rechargeable batteries in all iPhone models will diminish in their capacity and peak performance and will eventually need to be replaced. iOS can show show battery health and recommend if an iPhone battery needs to be replaced. Go to Settings > Battery and tap Battery Health. Battery Health is available only on iPhone.
What if the screen isn't working on your iPhone ?
You might need to set up service for your device.
If your screen is too sensitive or responds intermittently to touch
- Restart your iPhone.
- Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
- Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.
- Remove any cases or screen protectors.
What if I see No Service, Searching, or SOS on my iPhone ?
If you see No Service or Searching in the status bar on your iPhone (Wi-Fi + Cellular), your device isn't connected to a cellular network. If you see SOS or "SOS only" in the status bar, your device can still make emergency calls.
Check your coverage area
- Make sure that you're in an area with cellular network coverage.
- Turn cellular data off and then back on again. Go to Settings, then tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
- If you're traveling internationally, make sure that your device is set up for data roaming. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming.
What if my iPhone gets too hot?
The iOS devices have built-in protections to prevent overheating. If the interior temperature of your device exceeds the normal operating range, your device will protect its internal components by attempting to regulate its temperature.
Avoid these conditions and activities because they might change the performance of your device:
- Leaving your device in a car on a hot day.
- Leaving your device in direct sunlight for an extended period of time.
- Using certain features in hot conditions or direct sunlight for an extended period of time, such as GPS tracking or navigation in a car, playing a graphics-intensive game, or using augmented-reality apps.
If the interior temperature of your device exceeds the normal operating range, you might notice these changes:
- Charging, including wireless charging, slows or stops.
- The display dims or goes black.
- Cellular radios enter a low-power state. The signal might weaken during this time.
- The camera flash is temporarily disabled.
- Performance slows with graphics-intensive or augmented-reality apps or features.
Additionally, if you're navigating, your device might show this alert and turn off the display: "Temperature: iPhone needs to cool down." Navigation still provides audible turn-by-turn directions. When approaching a turn, the display will illuminate to guide you through the turn.
What is 100% battery health
Battery healthFor iPhone 6 and later, iOS 11.3 and later add new features to show battery health and recommend if a battery needs to be replaced. These can be found in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. All rechargeable batteries are consumables and have a limited lifespan—eventually their capacity and performance decline such that they need to be replaced. As batteries age you will be experiencing more noticeable battery and performance issues. A new replacement battery completely changes your experience.
